Welcome to Six Gables Designs
Patty Piper has been busy piecing in pairs. After the success of Patty Piper
Pieced a Pair of Painless Pointless Pinwheels, I decided to continue designing
more projects that could be made in pairs. Patty Piper patterns are constructed
of simple blocks that you stitch, cut, re-arrange, re-stitch, and wind up with
two coordinating, but not identical quilts. Patty Piper Strikes Again, and its
sister pattern, Dinner with Patty Piper, grew out of my love for circular
designs. Contrary to what it appears, there are no curved seams in either of
these. They lend themselves nicely to a large scale focus fabric.

Nobody can have too many stylish tote bags, not even a little girl. Totes for
Two is a pattern for matching mother/daughter totes with large outer pockets and
a smaller inner pocket. You only need one yard each of two fabrics to make both
totes. Each piece is a single lined rectangle; stitch up the side seams, turn
right side out, and you’ve got a finished tote without fussy finishing
techniques.

I was always drawn to the graceful pomegranate motifs in traditional crewel
embroideries, but the pomegranate quilts I’ve seen appeared clunky in
comparison. Pomegranate Grandeur has gentle curves and globelike fruit.
Appliquéd (by hand or machine) in a single color on oversize blocks, this works
up quickly. The photo shows the wall quilt, instructions also include a 90” x
90” bed quilt.
